On December 23, 2023, Public Safety Canada issued guidance on the reporting requirements mandated by the Fighting Against Forced Labour and Child Labour in Supply Chains Act, also referred to as the Modern Slavery Act (the Act). The new guidance provides additional insights and will assist companies falling under the Act’s mandate to better prepare for these annual reporting obligations. The first of these annual reports have a deadline of May 31, 2024.
As Aon has previously discussed, the Act is intended to increase transparency to prevent and reduce the risk of forced labour and child labour across supply chains.
